A 2012 Olympics fanfiction.

The Doctor stumbled out of his smoking TARDIS. “Oh… What is wrong with you?” He laid a hand on the TARDIS and looked around. “What am I doing in London?” He took a few steps towards the “LONDON 2012 OLYMPICS” banner hanging over the street before turning to see His TARDIS. But not where he had parked it. Well, he had, but not his current self. Timey Wimey. “Oh no. I shouldn’t be here.” The short haired man turned around and walked back to his TARDIS.
He pushed at the doors but they wouldn’t move. “Oh come on! You know I can’t be here! This is a paradox! Rip a hole in time and space and what-not!” He banged his fist against the door in frustration. “Fine. Have it your way.” The timelord stormed off toward the nearest house and banged on the door. “Go away! You shouldn’t be here! It’s not safe!” he heard an old woman scream from within. He turned the door knob and the door pushed right open. “You should really lock your doors if it’s not safe”
The old woman was behind some curtains off to the side of the door. “Listen, this is important. I need to use your computer.” She stood there silently, glancing black and forth from the intruder to the window. “IM-POR-TANT!” the Doctor shouted. “M-My grandson…” She choked a bit, “He left his computer in his room before he… left…” “Good.” The doctor ran up the stairs and in moments found the boy’s bedroom. Just as the old woman had said, a laptop was sitting on the bed, already on.
He grabbed the laptop and looked at what the boy had left open. Tumblr. And all over the page were pictures of a man holding a torch and running clumsily. All fake. Quite a funny looking man. Below the picture he read “SMITH IS GOING TO BURN DOWN CARDIFF!” as he scrolled, many of the posts were similar. “That it definitely not supposed to happen. Cardiff definitely did not burn in 2012. Something in one of the pictures caught his eye. Blue. TARDIS blue. “Smith… Oh No. This is definitely bad.”
The Doctor tossed the laptop aside and ran back down the stairs. “I NEED A RIDE TO CARDIFF!” “Cars don’t work here. Something strange is stopping them.” The Doctor pulled the door open and ran outside, running as fast as he could, but not before catching a glance of blonde through a window. Rose. She was still with him? That was good to know. The Doctor ran as fast as he could hoping he wasn’t seen and trying to find something to take him to Cardiff since his TARDIS was obviously not moving.
HIS TARDIS. But what about? No. No that would only make things worse. He couldn’t. Could he? What else could he do? The Doctor waited behind one of the garbage bins by the TARDIS. He heard his future go in. He waited. His voice was different. He had regenerated. But Rose was still with him. As he began to wonder how she handled the regeneration her heard his future step outside the TARDIS. He slipped around the bin and hurried into the TARDIS. “Shh.. it’s okay…” He whispered as he entered.
“I just need a quick ride to Cardiff… to set time right and then I’ll be gone.”The TARDIS was obviously not pleased with his presence but the Doctor grabbed the controls and got himself to Cardiff anyway. When he stepped out he realized he had parked where he usually parked in Cardiff. Right beside his TARDIS. Well, not his. Or the Other’s. But the one about to cause the burning of a city. The timelord grabbed a nearby hat and camera, he was going to need to take the direct approach.
“I can’t quite believe people have actually turned up, I thought I would be just be carrying it around, waving to the ducks.” “Mr. Smith. You are not waving to the ducks, you need to be careful. You do know the torch is a real flame?” The Doctor acted often, but it was really hard to act to himself. He couldn’t sound anything like he usually did. And he didn’t. And neither did either of his futures. Three regenerations. Was there a second Rose? He hadn’t seen her. “Of course I know it is!”
“I need you to listen. Be extremely careful with that torch. You must watch your every step. The safety of the Universe is at stake.” His future didn’t look quite so silly anymore. “Who-” But the Doctor had already made his leave and blended into the crowd, waiting. And looking. Where was Rose? He knew her. She would be right there either in the vehicle behind the runner or on the side in the crowd. She wasn’t. The Doctor’s future had started running. He watched carefully, hoping for the best.
And the best is what happened. The future Doctor didn’t even stumble. After he had passed on the flame The Doctor saw a ginger woman run out to him and hug him. That definitely wasn’t Rose. But she definitely was a companion. The Doctor could have worried, but he knew he couldn’t stay any longer, he had to return his TARDIS. He ran back and quickly ran inside. Wrong TARDIS. He ran out and out and quickly made the switch. He made it back to Muswell Hill, London on the day before the Olympics.
When he returned he quickly ran back to his own ship, glancing back to see Rose run out to find the TARDIS. “I’ll have that adventure one day…” and he stepped inside, finally being let back inside. “Now… I guess I should return to Jackie Tyler’s house for that dinner she was going on about…” AND SMITH DIDN’T BURN DOWN CARDIFF AND TUMBLR REJOICED.

scarletalphabet:

I get why people are upset that it’s not David Tennant carrying the torch, but canonically speaking it’s the same person. Just because the person carrying the torch doesn’t have David’s face doesn’t mean that it’s not the Doctor.

But he had the face of David when he carried the torch.

les-jours-tristes:

Georgia Moffett is hot though, I can totally see why David Tennant went there.

I hope she makes an appearance in series 7.
